Pricing Tiers Technical Specifications

Detailed breakdown of Seva, Elevate, and Amplify tiers including fee calculations and feature matrix.

BrightStar's pricing is built around per-ticket fees rather than a subscription. There's no monthly bill to remember, no hidden line items, and no cost sitting on your account when you aren't selling tickets. This piece walks through what each of the three tiers — Seva, Elevate, and Amplify — actually costs, what each one includes, and how to think about which one fits the gathering you're running, whether that's a single kirtan circle or a full weekend retreat.

How the per-ticket fees break down across tiers

Seva carries no BrightStar platform fee at all. There's no minimum ticket price, so a donation-based or entirely free sitting works fine, and there's no maximum, so a full retreat can run on Seva too. Elevate charges a low per-ticket fee made up of a small flat amount plus a small percentage of the ticket price, applied to each ticket and shown live in your local currency right at checkout — no surprise conversion later. Amplify charges a higher per-ticket fee, again a flat amount plus a percentage, in exchange for the full marketing suite layered on top. In every case, Stripe's own processing fees apply separately and are not part of BrightStar's fee — that charge belongs to Stripe regardless of which tier you're on. Charging per ticket instead of per month means a quiet season, or an event that never sells out, never costs you anything beyond what actually moves through the door.

What every tier includes, even the free one

Unlimited events, unlimited ticket types, QR code tickets, the zero-login scanner, basic analytics, email confirmations, and mobile-responsive event pages come with every tier, Seva included. Ticketing itself is never the thing being withheld to push an upgrade. The zero-login scanner matters in a very ordinary way at the door of a kirtan or a sound bath: whoever is checking people in doesn't need an account or a password fumbled on a phone in low light — they just scan. QR tickets work the same way whether you're running one intimate circle or ten retreats a year, since ticket types and events are unlimited from the start.

What you get when you move up to Elevate or Amplify

Elevate adds discount codes, custom checkout questions, donation add-ons, abandoned cart emails, affiliate tracking, advanced analytics, and priority support on top of everything in Seva. That's the layer that matters once you're running early-bird pricing for a retreat, asking dietary or accommodation questions at checkout, or adding a donation option for a scholarship spot. Amplify adds everything in Elevate plus geo-targeted email campaigns, Meta retargeting on Facebook and Instagram, access to BrightStar's 350K buyer network, real-time campaign analytics, and a dedicated success manager. That tier is built for the moment an event needs to reach beyond your existing list — a festival or larger gathering trying to fill capacity rather than just process the people who already know about it.

Deciding who pays the platform fee

BrightStar gives you two ways to handle the fee, set per event under Event Settings and then Pricing. With Pass to Buyer, the default, the fee is added on top of the ticket price at checkout: a $100 ticket becomes $106.19 once the $2.74 platform fee and $3.45 processing fee are added, and you receive the full $100 minus Stripe's cut. With Absorb into Price, the fee instead comes out of the ticket price, so on that same $100 ticket you'd receive $93.81 after both fees. Passing the fee to the buyer keeps your budgeted revenue per ticket intact, which matters when a retreat's numbers depend on a fixed take per bed. Absorbing it keeps the price a buyer sees at the door lower, which can matter for a donation-style kirtan where the sticker number is part of the invitation.

You can switch tiers at any time, and the change takes effect on the next ticket sold — nothing about past sales changes. A common path is to start on Seva while you're testing an event, move to Elevate once you need discount codes or donation add-ons, and activate Amplify when you're ready to push for reach beyond your own list.

Common questions

Does BrightStar charge a monthly subscription?

No. BrightStar offers three pricing tiers that are charged as per-ticket fees, with no monthly subscriptions and no hidden costs. Stripe processing fees apply on all tiers and are separate from BrightStar's fees.

The rate applied to a sale is resolved in a fixed order when the payment is created: a per-host override on the account is used if present, otherwise the stored rate for that tier in that currency, otherwise the built-in default. This lets the same tier carry different amounts in different currencies. Processing fees are separate, charged once per order on the ticket total plus any custom fee, excluding the platform fee.

Is there a free plan on BrightStar?

Yes. The Seva tier has no BrightStar platform fee at all, with no minimum ticket price and no maximum ticket price. Stripe processing fees still apply, since those are charged by Stripe rather than BrightStar.

Seva is a genuine zero on both the flat and percentage components. One rule overrides everything: if the amount payable comes to zero, no fees of any kind are charged, so an all-free event costs the buyer nothing rather than nothing plus processing. That same zero carries through to anything calculated as a share of the platform fee, such as ambassador commission.

What is included in every BrightStar tier?

All tiers, including free Seva, include unlimited events, unlimited ticket types, QR code tickets, the zero-login scanner, basic analytics, email confirmations and mobile-responsive event pages. Paid tiers add features on top of that core set rather than unlocking basic ticketing.

Feature availability isn't decided page by page. A single map ties each feature name to the minimum tier it requires, and the wizard, the live event page, and the server checks all read that same map, so a feature can't appear in one place and be missing in another. Basic event creation, the scanner, the schedule, FAQs and basic analytics are all mapped to the free tier.

What do I get by upgrading from Seva to Elevate or Amplify?

Elevate adds discount codes, custom checkout questions, donation add-ons, abandoned cart emails, affiliate tracking, advanced analytics and priority support on top of the Seva core features. Amplify adds everything in Elevate plus geo-targeted email campaigns, Meta retargeting on Facebook and Instagram, access to the 350K buyer network, real-time campaign analytics and a dedicated success manager.

Through that same tier map, Elevate unlocks mostly the event page and revenue tooling: gallery, highlights, extended description, testimonials, venue detail, accommodation and meal sections, social features, automatic colour matching from the hero image, white-label presentation, early-bird pricing and the affiliate engine. Because the mapping is one shared table rather than scattered conditionals, upgrading turns these on consistently without rebuilding the event.

Can I pass the BrightStar fee to the ticket buyer instead of absorbing it?

Yes, and passing fees to the buyer is the default. With Pass to Buyer the fee is added to the ticket price at checkout, so a $100 ticket carries a $2.74 platform fee and a $3.45 processing fee, is charged as $106.19, and you receive the full $100. With Absorb into Price the fee comes out of the ticket price instead, so on that same $100 ticket you would receive $93.81 after both fees. You configure this per event under Event Settings and then Pricing.

That $2.74 figure is the Elevate fee on a $100 ticket — a flat amount plus a percentage — applied once per ticket, so it scales with ticket count rather than order size. Processing is charged once per order, not per ticket. Which side absorbs the fees is a single setting on the event, defaulting to the buyer, and revenue reporting follows that same setting, which is why gross and net can differ across events.

Can I switch pricing tiers later?

Yes. You can switch BrightStar tiers at any time and the change takes effect on the next ticket sold. A common path is to use Seva for testing, upgrade to Elevate when you need marketing features, and activate Amplify for maximum reach.

The tier is resolved when a payment is created rather than stamped onto the event once, so a change applies from the next sale forward and never changes what an earlier buyer was charged. Tickets already sold keep the terms they were sold under. The event, its ticket types and existing orders stay untouched — only the fee resolution at checkout sees the new tier.
