Earn for referring new organizers

Bring another organizer to BrightStar and earn a share of the platform fee on what they sell.

The brand ambassador program is built around who runs events, not who buys tickets to them. You bring another organizer onto BrightStar — a teacher who is still running things through a spreadsheet, a venue that has never sold tickets online — and from the moment that happens, you earn a share of BrightStar's platform fee on what they sell. It is 20 percent of BrightStar's platform fee on their sales, for as long as they keep selling. It comes out of BrightStar's own fee, so the organizer you referred loses nothing; their proceeds are exactly what they would have been without you. Attribution is permanent and first-touch: once an account is attributed to you, it stays attributed to you, with no expiry and no reassignment to someone else later.

How an account gets attributed to you

There are two ways this happens, and only one of them needs any action from you at the moment of signup.

The direct way is your referral link. You share it — in an email to a teacher you know, in conversation with a venue owner — and when they sign up through it, the referral is recorded against your account right then.

The second way asks nothing of anyone. If someone bought a ticket to an event you were running with the ambassador program enabled, and later starts organizing their own events on BrightStar, they are attributed to you automatically when they do. You don't have to remember to send them a link, and they don't have to remember to use one. Either way, the record is written once and kept. There is no expiry window and no re-attribution to a later referrer, so a connection that starts years before someone becomes an organizer still counts.

Where your earnings show up

Your ambassador earnings live in the Commissions area of your dashboard, next to any affiliate commissions you've earned, and both are summarised on your main dashboard so you don't have to dig for the number. Earnings are broken out per currency, and within each currency they're split into what's still pending, what's available, and what's already been paid — so you can tell the difference between a sale that just happened and money that's actually settled.

The two programs are separate and they stack. If you promoted a specific event as an affiliate and you also referred the organizer who runs it, both payments can happen on the same sale, drawn from different budgets. One doesn't reduce the other.

Earnings tracking is live right now — what you see in Commissions is accurate. The payout side, the connection that actually moves what you've earned into your bank account, is still being built. Watch the number grow, but don't plan around a withdrawal date until that piece is finished. If you're weighing whether to lean on this for near-term income, treat it for now as a running record of what you're owed, not yet a route to cash in hand.

What kinds of sales count toward your share

Your share is 20 percent of BrightStar's own platform fee, not 20 percent of the ticket price. That distinction decides what you earn on and what you don't. A referred organizer running paid events is charged a platform fee, and your share comes out of that fee. A referred organizer running free Seva events pays no platform fee at all, so 20 percent of zero is still zero — you earn nothing on those events, through no fault of the organizer or the program.

This is also why the reward is described as a share of the fee rather than a flat bounty: it moves with whatever the organizer actually generates for BrightStar, on whichever paid plan they're using, for as long as they keep selling.

Getting started as an ambassador

Two paths get you here, and you don't have to pick just one:

  1. 1Get your referral link and share it directly with the organizer you're bringing on — a link they sign up through records the referral immediately.
  2. 2Or simply run your own events with the ambassador program enabled; anyone who buys a ticket from you and later becomes an organizer is attributed to you automatically, no link required.
  3. 3Once someone is attributed to you, the record stays — there's nothing further you need to do to keep it in place.
  4. 4Check the Commissions area of your dashboard to see what's pending, what's available, and what's already been paid, broken out per currency.

Common questions

What is the BrightStar brand ambassador program?

It is a referral program for new organizer accounts. When you bring another organizer onto BrightStar, you earn 20 percent of BrightStar's platform fee on the tickets they sell, for as long as they keep selling. It is not a reward for referring ticket buyers, and it is not a share of the ticket price — it is a share of BrightStar's own fee.

The most common misreading is to think of it as 20 percent of a sale. On an Elevate event, BrightStar's platform fee on a $20 ticket is $0.89 plus 1.85 percent, coming to $1.26. The ambassador share of that is about $0.25. The number grows through volume and repetition rather than through a single sale, which is why it's structured as a perpetual share rather than a one-time bounty.

Does the organizer I referred earn less because of me?

No. BrightStar absorbs the ambassador share out of its own platform fee. The organizer you referred receives exactly the same proceeds they would have received if nobody had referred them. Nothing is deducted from their payout and nothing changes on their pricing.

This is possible because your 20 percent comes out of BrightStar's platform fee, not out of the organizer's share of ticket revenue. The fee itself doesn't change size because a referral exists — BrightStar simply splits its own cut differently behind the scenes. From the organizer's side, pricing, payout amount, and everything else about selling on BrightStar looks identical whether or not they came through you.

Do I earn on referred organizers who run free Seva events?

No. The ambassador reward is a share of BrightStar's platform fee, and Seva's platform fee is zero, so 20 percent of it is also zero. You earn on referred organizers' sales on the paid plans, where a platform fee is actually charged.

Seva is BrightStar's plan for free events, and it carries no platform fee, which is what your share is calculated from. If a teacher you referred runs only Seva events, there's nothing for your 20 percent to apply to. The moment they run a paid event on a plan that does carry a fee, their sales start generating your share again.

How long does a referral stay attributed to me?

Permanently. BrightStar records the referral once, on a first-touch basis, and it is not reassigned to a later referrer or expired after a window. As long as that organizer keeps selling on BrightStar, their sales keep generating your share.

Attribution is first-touch, meaning whichever route connects an organizer to you first is the one that sticks — whether that's your referral link at signup or being a ticket buyer at your event who later organizes their own. Nothing later overwrites it: not a different link, not another ambassador, not time passing. The record is written once and left alone.

Can I earn as both an affiliate and an ambassador on the same sale?

Yes. The ambassador program and the affiliate program are separate, and they stack. If you promoted a sale as an affiliate and you also referred the organizer who made it as an ambassador, you can earn from both, paid out of different budgets.

This works because the two rewards come from different sources: the affiliate share is tied to promoting a specific sale, and the ambassador share is tied to having brought the organizer's account onto BrightStar in the first place. Neither program checks whether the other has already paid on that transaction, so a single sale can generate two separate earnings for you at once.
