Earn an ongoing share from organizers you bring to BrightStar

Invite another organizer to BrightStar and earn 20% of the platform fee BrightStar makes on their ticket sales.

The Brand Ambassador programme is BrightStar's way of paying you for growing the platform itself, not for selling tickets to one event. You invite another organizer onto BrightStar — maybe a retreat centre you trust, a sound healer who keeps outgrowing their old ticketing tool, a kirtan host you've shared a stage with — and once they start selling tickets, you earn a share of what BrightStar itself earns from those sales. That's a different relationship than a one-time finder's fee. As long as the organizer you referred keeps running events and selling tickets, your share keeps coming in alongside theirs, event after event, without you having to do anything further to earn it.

What you actually earn from a referral

Your share is 20% of the platform fee BrightStar makes on the referred organizer's ticket sales — not 20% of their ticket revenue, and not a cut of what buyers pay at the door. It comes out of BrightStar's own fee, which is the key thing that makes the arrangement sustainable for everyone involved: the organizer you referred pays exactly what any other organizer on their tier pays, with no surcharge added because you happened to bring them in. There is nothing quietly passed on to them, and nothing that changes for the people buying tickets at their events. This is also why the earning is ongoing rather than a single payout — it rides along with every sale that generates a platform fee for as long as that organizer keeps selling.

How the platform fee decides your share

Because your share is a percentage of BrightStar's platform fee, what you actually earn depends on which tier the referred organizer chose for a given event. Seva is free to run, so a Seva event generates no platform fee at all — and 20% of nothing is nothing. Elevate charges $0.89 plus 1.85% per ticket, and your share is 20% of that amount, ticket by ticket. If the organizer you referred runs some events on Seva and others on Elevate, your earnings will simply follow whichever tier is generating a fee. There's also a detail worth knowing if the organizer you referred sells as part of a larger event with other organizers involved, like a shared festival gate: the platform fee is split per organizer first, and your 20% is calculated only on the portion belonging to the organizer you referred, not on the whole basket of tickets sold that day.

When and how your earning gets counted

Your ambassador earning is worked out inside the live payment flow, right at the moment the referred organizer's sale is confirmed — a ticket bought at a retreat check-in, a kirtan door, a festival gate, wherever the transaction happens. BrightStar uses the referral record that links that organizer to you to attribute the earning automatically. There's no claim form to submit and no monthly reconciliation cycle where a sale could quietly fail to get matched to you. The trade-off is that the programme is built to reward genuinely new organizers joining through you, so referral activity is monitored, and patterns that look unusual get flagged for review rather than simply paid out.

Where to find your side of it

Your BrightStar dashboard has an ambassador area that shows the organizers you've referred and what they've earned you, along with its own settings. It sits next to separate pages for the referrals you've sent and the ones you've received, giving you one place to see who you brought onto the platform and what that relationship has produced over time. This is kept deliberately apart from the commissions you earn promoting individual events — the two are tracked in different places because they're funded differently, one from BrightStar's own fee and the other from an organizer's ticket revenue.

The ambassador programme and BrightStar's per-event affiliate commissions are separate, and they stack rather than compete. You can refer an organizer to BrightStar and earn the ongoing ambassador share on everything they sell going forward, and separately act as an affiliate for one specific event of theirs — sharing your own link, sending your own list to their kirtan or retreat — and earn a commission on the tickets you personally sell for that event. Nothing about doing one reduces what you earn from the other.

Common questions

How much do I earn for referring an organizer to BrightStar?

You earn 20% of the platform fee BrightStar makes on that organizer's ticket sales, and it continues for as long as they keep selling rather than being a one-off finder's fee. The share comes out of BrightStar's fee, so the organizer you referred pays nothing extra.

The platform fee itself is charged per ticket and depends on the tier the organizer picked for the event. The Seva tier is free and generates no platform fee at all, so it produces no ambassador share. The Elevate tier charges $0.89 plus 1.85% per ticket, and your 20% is calculated on that.

Does the organizer I refer pay more because of my referral?

No. Your ambassador share is taken from BrightStar's own platform fee, not from the referred organizer's ticket revenue and not as a surcharge on their buyers. They pay exactly what any other BrightStar organizer on their tier pays.

This is the structural difference between the ambassador programme and an affiliate commission. An affiliate commission is paid by the organizer out of their ticket revenue on sales the promoter generated. The ambassador share is BrightStar giving away part of its own margin to the person who brought that organizer in.

When is my ambassador earning recorded?

At the moment the referred organizer's sale is confirmed. BrightStar calculates the share inside the live payment flow using the referral record that links that organizer to you, so there is no claim to file and no monthly reconciliation for a sale to fall out of.

On an order that involves more than one organizer, the platform fee is split per organizer before your share is calculated. That means you are credited on the portion belonging to the organizer you referred, not on the value of the whole basket.

How long does the referral keep earning?

It is ongoing rather than time-limited. As long as the organizer you referred keeps running events and selling tickets on BrightStar, their platform fees keep generating your 20% share.

This is what separates the programme from a one-off finder's fee: there's no point at which the relationship stops paying out on its own. You don't need to re-refer them or renew anything — the referral record keeps linking their sales to you automatically, event after event, for as long as they keep selling.

Can I earn both an ambassador share and an affiliate commission?

Yes, they are separate programmes and they stack on BrightStar. You can earn the ongoing ambassador share on everything an organizer you referred sells, and separately earn an affiliate commission on tickets you personally promoted for one of their events.

They are also tracked separately in your dashboard. The ambassador area covers organizers you brought to the platform and what they have earned you; the commissions area covers per-event promotion. Keeping them apart matters because the two are funded differently — one from BrightStar's fee, one from the organizer's ticket revenue.

Does referring the same organizer twice, or referring myself, count?

No. The programme is for genuinely new organizers joining BrightStar through you. Referral activity is monitored and unusual patterns are flagged for review rather than paid out automatically.

This monitoring exists because the whole earning is calculated automatically inside the payment flow the moment a sale is confirmed, with no manual claim step in between. That automation is what makes the programme reliable for legitimate referrals, so BrightStar reviews unusual referral patterns by hand rather than letting them pay out silently alongside everything else.
