Every ticket buyer on BrightStar receives two very different kinds of email, and knowing which is which helps you understand what you can and can't turn off. Transactional emails — order confirmation, ticket delivery, refund confirmation, event updates or changes, and event cancellation — always go out, because a buyer needs this information to actually attend or seek a refund, regardless of whether they've opted out of hearing from you otherwise. Marketing emails — announcements, reminders, post-event thank yous, abandoned cart recovery, and Amplify campaigns — are configurable, meaning you decide whether and how they're sent. This split matters most at the moments that feel high-stakes: a retreat check-in where someone insists they never got their ticket, or a kirtan door where a last-minute venue change needs to reach everyone who bought in, including people who unsubscribed from your announcements months ago.
Which emails always go out, and which don't
BrightStar treats order confirmation, ticket delivery, refund confirmation, event updates, and event cancellation as always-on. These cover the moments where a buyer's money or attendance is directly at stake — if a sound healing session gets rescheduled, everyone holding a ticket needs to know, full stop, regardless of their marketing preferences. Everything else falls under marketing: event announcements, the reminder sequence, post-event thank yous, abandoned cart recovery, and Amplify campaigns. These are promotional rather than essential to the transaction itself, which is why BrightStar lets you configure or disable them instead of sending them unconditionally.
How the reminder and follow-up schedule works
On Elevate and above, BrightStar runs an automated reminder sequence in the run-up to your event, plus an abandoned cart sequence for anyone who started checkout and didn't finish. Post-event follow-up runs on every tier, since it's about closing the loop with attendees rather than driving more ticket sales.
- 17 days before: event details and logistics
- 21 day before: final reminder with what to bring
- 31 hour before: start time and venue directions
- 4Abandoned cart, 1 hour: "Your cart is waiting"
- 5Abandoned cart, 24 hours: "Don't miss out"
- 6Abandoned cart, 48 hours: final reminder
- 7Post-event +1 day: thank you and feedback request
- 8Post-event +7 days: photos or video, if any were uploaded
- 9Post-event +14 days: promotion for upcoming events
What you can customize about these emails
Because these emails go out carrying your event's name, BrightStar gives you control over how they look and read, and lets you switch off pieces of the sequence you don't want sent:
- 1Add a custom header image (600px wide)
- 2Edit the email copy for each type
- 3Set the sender name to your organization
- 4Add custom footer content
- 5Include social media links
- 6Set a reply-to address
- 7Disable specific reminder emails
How reliable is BrightStar's email delivery
An email only helps if it actually lands. BrightStar sends through SendGrid on its enterprise tier, with DKIM and SPF configured and DMARC monitored — the standard authentication trio that tells receiving mail servers your messages are legitimate rather than spoofed. In practice this shows up as 99.2% inbox placement, a bounce rate under 0.5%, and spam complaints under 0.01%. For an organizer running a festival gate or a multi-day retreat, this is what keeps ticket confirmations and last-minute schedule changes reaching people's inboxes instead of getting buried in a spam folder or bouncing outright.
